Donnellon Insurance and Risk Management is a licensed property and casualty insurance agency which focuses on helping our clients obtain insurance and manage their risks in the simplest, most cost effective way. The firm was founded by Tim Donnellon in August of 2007.
Mr. Donnellon has over 25 years experience in various executive and management positions in the property and casualty insurance and consulting industry. Three periods of his career form the foundation of the company; with ECS, Inc. (now XL Insurance) where responsiveness to the needs of the client was emphasized, with Ecology & Environment, Inc, where sustainability and the concept of “triple bottom line” performance metrics was first introduced, and with a prior start up environmental liability transfer firm where he gained practical experience in developing alternative liability transfer solutions to resolve environmental business problems.
A client focused Insurance agent
A multistate sports and entertainment business asked Donnellon to review their current insurance and risk management program. Our coverage review determined that the current insurance program was not specialized for their industry, resulting in several onerous exclusions, and an unnecessary and expensive accident policy. Donnellon was able to reconfigure the program and obtain coverage from insurers focused on the client’s specific industry, address the coverage gaps, and save the client money.
Project Experience: Environmental Liability Transfer for Retail Petroleum Service Stations
Large multinational oil company divested a significant portion of their owned real estate. Many of the properties are affected by environmental conditions requiring long term resolution. The business priority for the seller was to enter into the transaction in the near term and transfer the properties "as is", providing funding for an interest bearing escrow account to pay for the long term resolution of the liabilities. The buyer's business priority was assurance that the environmental liabilities they were assuming were sufficiently funded and that a credible remedial plan and responsible collateral structure was established and implemented.
Donnellon developed the remedial work plan and negotiated a milestone payment schedule and fixed price remediation contract with a nationally recognized environmental consulting engineering firm. Arranged for the environmental insurance placement in collaboration with the buyer's insurance broker and environmental insurer. Also collaborated with in house and outside counsel to develop and finalize the liability assumption agreement and remediation escrow agreement, and continued to manage project implementation following completion of each property transfer.
Project Experience: Insurance Program Review
On behalf of a diversified holding company, performed a detailed review of the portfolio involving multiple entities and a variety of insurance policies. Evaluated coverage for terms and conditions, adequacy of limits, deductibles and retentions, and presented findings in a detailed report which included recommendations for both programmatic and policy specific revisions.
